THE ENDOTHERMIC ATMOSPHERE HEAT TREATING PROCESSES:

When steel is heated above approximately 1400F, it reacts with any oxygen in the atmosphere and the carbon can be pulled from the surface of the material. This creates an undesirable condition known as decarburization or scale. To combat this, we utilize Endothermic furnaces to protect your parts. We generate our own Endothermic gas which is pumped, in a controlled manner, into the furnace to displace any oxygen that might be present in the furnace. 

As a result of the Endothermic Atmosphere we create in the furnace we can neutral harden, carburize or normalize any carbon or alloy steel to your specifications and maintain a scale free surface. In addition to the Endothermic Atmosphere, a carbon sensing probe, inside the furnace, directs precise amounts of natural gas into the atmosphere to control the carbon level required to maintain a carbon rich environment needed for proper Heat Treating.
